Vehicle that struck Yelchin has auto defect

The Fiat Chrysler vehicle that fatally struck young actor Anton Yelchin at his home in Los Angeles was among the 1.1 million vehicles included in a recall issued by the automaker, a report of CNN stated on June 20.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) issued a recall in April after receiving complaints that the gear selector on some models confused drivers as to whether they were in “park” or “reverse.” Failure to properly park resulted in vehicles unexpectedly rolling out of place after drivers exited their vehicles. The 27-year-old “Star Trek” actor was fatally pinned to a post by his vehicle after it suddenly rolled out place. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and FCA are aware of 117 incidents involving the recalled vehicles. 28 of the incidents resulted in injuries, reports said.

The attorneys at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® are saddened to hear of these unfortunate accidents. Our thoughts are with the victims as they recover from their losses and injuries.
