Millions of Nissan vehicles with faulty airbags and seatbelts recalled

Nissan North America is recalling 3.2 million vehicles due to a defect in the sensors that may cause airbags and seat belts to malfunction during an emergency.

Nissan explained the affected vehicles are equipped with airbag sensors that may fail to detect a passenger or identify an adult passenger as a child. Further, the front passenger seat belt bracket can be broken when used with a child car seat. If such a problem occurs, the airbags might not deploy after a crash. Consumers who have the affected Nissan vehicles are at risk of sustaining serious injuries in accidents if the airbags or seat belts suddenly malfunction. Nissan identified several car models that are covered by the recalls and are expected to notify recalled vehicle owners for the free repair of their vehicles.
