Thousands of Kia Sorentos in the US recalled for defective seatbelt latch

Kia Motors America recently issued a recall for 2,587 Sorento SUVs to repair the seatbelts in the front passenger seats, Consumer Affairs on July 29 reported.

Reports said front seat passengers of the 2016 Kia Sorentos might have problems fastening their seatbelts due to an issue in the buckle latch assembly. Passengers occupying the front seats of the recalled SUVs could suffer serious injuries if their seatbelts unexpectedly unlatch during emergency situations. To address the problem, Kia Motors will replace the seatbelt buckle cover of the recalled SUVs for free, starting August 18. Owners of recalled Sorentos should expect a notification from their local Kia dealers.
