The drunk pickup truck driver responsible for the deaths of two of his passengers was sentenced to seven years in prison, a report by the Stevens Point Journal stated on May 20.

According to Judge Thomas Eagon, Timothy Saavedra, 23, will spend seven years in jail and be observed under extended supervision for five years after that. The incident occurred last July 20. Saavedra’s passengers Melissa Ann Peterson-Suzda and Stephanie Eberhardt, both 21-years-old, were killed in the crash. Saavedra, whose blood alcohol content was nearly double the legal amount, was reportedly driving over 90 mph when he lost control of the vehicle.
