Wisconsin State attempts to toughen drunk driving laws

On Tuesday, March 18 the Wisconsin Senate passed a bill attempting to toughen drunk driving laws.

The bill would require drunk drivers that have caused injury to others to automatically be sentenced to 30 days in jail. Additionally the law would require that people convicted of their 7th OWI face a sentence of three years in prison. Under the current law, intoxicated drivers who cause injury are sentenced by a judge after a hearing.

People injured in drunk driving accidents can often suffer from serious physical and emotional ailments.
