Toyota vehicles in the U.S. with airbag issue recalled

More than half of a million recent Toyota vehicles are being recalled due to a leaking A/C condenser that may result in airbag malfunction, according to a statement released by the company on Thursday, October 17.

According to reports, the automaker giant is voluntarily recalling 803,000 recent models of the Camry, Avalon, Camry and Avalon Hybrids, and Venza mid-sized SUV vehicles due to a leaking problem in the air conditioning condenser that may affect the airbag system of the vehicles. Toyota said the water from the condenser may cause a short circuit of the control unit of the airbag and may either disable it or launch it unnecessarily.

A Toyota spokeswoman said reports of injuries and instances in which the airbag was have been reported. Dealers plan to fix the issue by sealing the leaking condenser and putting a cover on the condenser.
