General Motors to recall Chevrolet Cruzes with break issues

Automaker General Motors (GM) will recall certain compact sedans to address a brake defect, according to a report published by The Los Angeles Times on Friday, August 16 .

According to the recall, around 293,000 Chevrolet Cruze models from 2011-2012 may experience occasional brake assist loss in configured engine-transmission cars, forcing the driver to step harder on the brake pedal to stop the car. Although no injuries have yet been reported in relation to the issue, there have been some low-speed crashes linked to the brake problem. Dealers will address the issue by changing a microswitch in the assembly of the power brake vacuum pipe.

GM issued the recall as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s effort to have all defective cars fixed.
