Truck driver killed as semi plunges into river

Snowy road conditions caused a semi to go off Interstate 94 and plunge into a river on the morning of Tuesday, March 5.

The eastbound side of the road near Menomonie, Wisconsin was closed for several hours as rescue teams searched until nightfall for a possible passenger, but only were able to find the body of the driver of the semi.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the accident happened near the Wisconsin 25 interchange at around 3:45 a.m. According to the State Patrol, the truck lost control while traveling near Lake Menomin Park, causing it to drive through the median and into Red Cedar River.

The name of the trucking company was not released, although reports noted it was a Lansing, Michigan based trucking company.

Tragically, many people’s lives are unduly lost in truck accidents all too often, and the thoughts of our team at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. go out to anyone affected by this tragedy.
