FHWA: Wisconsin ranks 7th in nation for deer-car accidents

The state of Wisconsin is currently ranking 7th in the nation when it comes to the likelihood that a collision will occur involving  a deer and a vehicle.

According to officials with the Federal Highway Administration, claims data from insurance company shows that one out of every 78.7 drivers in Wisconsin will collide with a deer while driving during this coming year.

This information comes from the second largest passenger vehicle insurance provider, State Farm. For the sixth year in a row, West Virginia has ranked first for the state with the highest likelihood that a deer-vehicle collision will occur. There is a one in 40 chance in the state that a deer and car accident will occur.

Hawaii takes the spot for the state that a driver is least likely to hit a deer with a one and 6,801 chance that it will occur. State Farm officials went on to say that the month of November is the most common time for deer-vehicle collisions to occur.
