Study: Nearly half of drivers do not use blinkers

A study done by the Society of Automotive Engineers found that nearly 48 percent of drivers do not use their turn signal before making a turn.

Researchers asked 12,000 drivers and 48 percent stated that they failed to use their turn signals while driving. Of this number, 42 percent of the non-blinker users have stated that they do not have time, while another 23 percent said they were too lazy.

This study matches an earlier study done by insurance providers and stated that between drivers 18 and 24, nearly 71 percent of drivers fail to use their turn signal. While this may not seem like a big deal, failure to use turn signals is not only against the law, it causes nearly two million car accidents a year.
