Study: Accidents occur at higher rate on Tax Day

A new study was released this week that discusses the number of fatal accidents that occur on Tax Day and it was discovered that the number of fatal crashes is 6 percent higher on this day then any other day.

The study looked into a 30 year time period of traffic fatalities and found that there have been 6,783 accidents on Tax Day. When divided by 30 years, this is nearly 226 accidents on this day alone.

Researchers in the study have stated that they are not sure whether it is the extra stress of the day or people rushing to get to the post office, but these are a few examples of why they think the additional accidents occur on this day.
