Woman sentenced after reckless driving accident

A jury sentenced a 28-year-old woman to 30 days in county jail after a reckless driving accident that left one person injured.

The woman was also fined $883 as a result of the crash that occurred on Sept. 9. According to officials, the accident occurred as the woman was pulling out her garage with her friend sitting on the hood of the car.

She stated that she began to drive off as a joke, but the 19-year-old on top of the vehicle fell off and fractured her skull as a result. The 19-year-old was umping on the car and on the third jump, the driver braked hard in the vehicle causing her to fall off. The victim plead to the jury to go easy on the driver because she “a victim of her own crime.”
