Faulty battery cable results in 1.3 million BMW recall

BMW has announced the recall of nearly 1.3 million vehicles after it was found that there could potentially be a faulty cable cover in the trunk.

The recall was made on Monday and affects the 5-series and 6-series models that were made between the years 2003 and 2010. The mistake is seen in some of these models when the cable cover was mounted incorrectly.

This issue could result in an electrical malfunction that prevents the car from starting or in some cases, results in charring or a fire. BMW has written car owners in order to explain how to get repairs on the possible defect.

They have said that the repair may take between 3o minutes to an hour and only one percent of the cars worked on have experienced the issue. No injuries related to the issue have been reported at this time.
