The Importance of Turn Signals

Correct use of turn signals is a crucial part of driving. Unless drivers indicate their change of direction to others, either by lights on their vehicle or hand gestures, other drivers cannot predict their actions as easily and collisions may occur as a result. People who have sustained serious injuries in an accident caused by a negligent driver have the right to seek compensation for their medical bills and suffering.

Turn signals must be used whenever a driver wishes to make a turn or change lanes, no matter when or where. In most countries, a car’s turn signal lever is found on the left side of the steering wheel, with the windshield wiper controls on the opposite side. Virtually all vehicles also contain spring-loaded mechanisms to return the lever to rest position once the turn is completed. Lights inside and outside the vehicle, as well as a reminder sound inside, are meant to alert drivers of their signal.

Dangers of Failing to Use Turn Signals

Electric turn signals are required by law to be on every vehicle produced in essentially every country. They have existed since 1907 and have been standard on virtually all automobiles since 1939. Even though they are incredibly simple and easy to use, many drivers nonetheless fail to use them. More than just an act of unjustifiable laziness, failure to use turn signals is illegal and puts drivers and others on the road at risk of an accident.

If you or someone you love has been harmed by the actions of a negligent driver, you shouldn’t have to live with thousands of dollars of medical bills because of someone else’s wrongdoing. You have the right to seek compensation for your medical bills, losses, and pain and suffering.
