Officials concerned after man arrested for 7th OWI
Posted on Tuesday, April 12th, 2011 at 7:56 pm
A man that was recently arrested for his seventh drunk driving offense has concerned officials that they need to become tougher on the laws that combat this offense.
A 54-year-old man was arrested when he swerved into another lane and almost struck a police car. Once pulled over, it was found that the man had a blood alcohol content of 0.23, nearly four times the legal limit for driving in Wisconsin.
This was the man’s seventh offense and it has sparked a concern that law enforcement does not have enough power over the the drinking and driving problem in the state. Officials think the first time offenders need to be punished more harshly so that the number of offenses do not continue.
