Grant County Sheriff’s deputies report that an Amish buggy was struck in a hit-and-run accident this morning, April 14, around 1:45 a.m.

The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 18 near Mt. Hope. The buggy was driving on the highway when it was hit from behind by a car. The impact threw both occupants out of the buggy.

The 16-year-old driver of the buggy suffered severe head and neck injuries while his 17-year-old passenger was uninjured.

Police report that the horse that was hitched to the buggy has not been found, and are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver of the car that struck the buggy.
