Law enforcement agencies crack down on drunk driving for Fourth of July holiday

Law enforcement agencies in multiple states participated in a drunk driving crackdown during the Fourth of July holiday.

The campaign, called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” had one goal: to reduce the amount of impaired drivers on the road during the deadliest holiday of the year.

Police officials in the Midwest states of Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ohio increased the number of patrols between July 4 and July 6.

In 2010, there were 392 auto accident deaths during the July 4th holiday period.
