Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation are urging drivers to stay clear of the roadways because of a snow storm that left nearly 18 inches of snow on the roads in some areas.
The snow storm caused the cancellation of schools in northern and central Wisconsin because of the treacherous driving conditions. The storm also knocked the power out in wooded Wisconsin areas and nearly 14,000 people were left without electric.
The storm began late Tuesday night and carried on through Wednesday. In Green Bay, only two inches of snow fell, but other areas received 18 inches. Southern areas are facing heavy rains and temperatures in the upper 30s.

Current bills in the Wisconsin Assembly are attempting to toughen the laws on the drunk driving in the state in order to cut back on the number of impaired drivers that get behind the wheels.
A bill that is currently in the assembly would change the current law that states that drunk driving is not a felony until the fourth conviction, in order to make a felony on the third conviction.
